“ We visited La Popular in Roseville, CA on a Tuesday and made reservations in advance, which were honored without any issues. A bonus--**Tuesday is happy hour all day**! Tacos were just **$2**, and their **Agua Fresca drinks were $4**, which made for a great deal. The **food was good**, and the meats were full of flavor. I tried the **mole sauce enchiladas**, which were decent but not my favorite. The tacos, on the other hand, were solid. Service was a bit slow--we waited quite a while for our food, and I noticed that **water refills were lacking**, likely because the staff was very busy. That said, we still had a **great time**, especially because of the company of friends. If you're not in a rush and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with flavorful food, it's worth a visit--especially on a **Tuesday for happy hour deals!** ”

“ My Al pastor tacos were amazing perfectly paired with beans and rice! Got a few drinks (five to be precise) to try and although they weren't my favorites I still adored the presentation and wished it was a bit stronger. My favorite out of all would be the bubble martini ofc. My mule had a very strong chamoy flavor at the bottom but a cute bee pollen stick on top. Interior was nice and there is an outside patio seating which is super great for when the weathers great! Service was also excellent. Would recommended this location to others for bdays and special occasions or just for casual eating out. Entrance is a bit awkward however and must enter through the right side. ”

“ The atmosphere here is super chic and upbeat. They play good music, but it's not too loud you have to yell. It's a big place with the bar stationed in the middle of the restaurant. The food was all delicious. We had the steak nachos. Steak was cooked perfectly had lots of great toppings and honestly, it's big enough to sever as a meal for one person! I had the combo taco meal, it was phenomenal. It has chicken asado l, seasoned well. The steak tacos were big and great flavor. They are decent to big portions. Everyone I was with left home happy and full! I will definitely be come back to try their happy hour! We also had some drinks on top of being creative and pretty, they were good! ”

“ I've always wanted to try this place but was never really a priority because I hate pretentious semi 3rd world food. If I can go to a street taco guy for tacos and get them for $2, why would I consider paying more? That being said, this place is actually mostly worth it. Although a still on the pricier side, it could have been worse, but the food was actually delicious. The whole table got the taco combo, which is 4 tacos of two different types of meat for a little more than if you got 3 of the same tacos. Come with a nice sized side of rice and beans making the meal actually filling....even though the tacos are tiny. The aguachile was amazing. Although I wish they would cut up the shrimp into smaller pieces. When you're sharing and the entire thing had massive pieces of whole shrimp it kind of makes it difficult to share. Flavor was awesome though. So much so that we were scooping the juice into our tacos. Salsas were nice although I felt like none had any real heat to them. At Happy Hour prices, this place is amazing and would highly recommend to try. At regular price it's a nice place to dine with a good intimate ambiance, but without wrecking your wallet. ”

“ The location is decent. It's great if you're in the area or already live in Roseville. It's right next to the mall and many other dining options available. The parking lot is plentiful so you won't have trouble finding a place to hitch your horse. However, for most of us city dwellers it's far out of the way. It would be nice if they had a central location closer to Sacramento. The bathrooms were very clean and looked modern. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and it almost has a night club feel to it. They had a guitarist playing renditions of popular songs. The fancy neon lights and a disco ball caught my eye among the decor. The service was friendly and speedy. In our party of 10, we ordered without a problem. Our food came quickly even though it was busy for dinner. Our server was very nice. No complaints on the service. The flavor of our meal was exquisite. I thoroughly enjoyed the "salsa Lorenza", which wasn't spicy at all but had an incredible flavor. The chips were warm, crunchy, and had a good flavor to them that complimented the salsas well. The steak was buttered and cooked well, however there were some fatty parts still there. I liked how they give you 2 corn tortillas in addition to 2 flour tortillas. The mole tasted traditional and the churros were amazing. My only knock on La Popular is the prices/portions. For starters, everything is incredibly expensive. Every dish is $20 minimum and goes to $35+. It's impossible to walk out of here for under $60 for a meal for two which makes this a ($$$$) for me. A high price tag would be warranted if the portions were larger but they are far smaller than expected. I left still feeling hungry. I noticed the tacos at a nearby table were microscopic which made me not order them. The flavor of the food halfway makes up for the price tag but you can't ignore out the portion sizes here. You have to break the bank to come! Bottom line/TLDR: great flavor but expensive and will walk out still hungry. ”
